Intersection in Henrico County closed after transformer fire causes power loss

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A transformer fire caused an intersection in the West End of Henrico County to lose power on Sunday morning.

On Jan. 18, at around 10:30 a.m. Henrico Fire and Henrico Police responded to a transformer fire that burned a pole at Pouncey Tract Road and Nuckols Road.

The intersection remains closed due to hanging wires from the fire, leading to more traffic in the area than usual.

Virginia Dominion Power has estimated that crews will be working through Sunday night until 8 or 9 p.m. to restore power.

According to a Henrico Police news release, all traffic lights are working, and only a veterinarian's office and a nearby home do not have power.
