HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Dachtoberfest returned to the Richmond Raceway for its third year on Saturday, to celebrate all things Dachshund with wiener dog racing, costume contests and more. The third annual Dachtoberfest took place on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex. Attendees had the opportunity to experience wiener dog races, costume contests, raffles, vendors and food trucks. The event is hosted by the Dachshund Enlightenment Foundation (DEF), a nonprofit organization that aims to educate people about the care, health and breeding needs of Dachshunds. Clarke spoke with 8News about what an event like this means to him. "For me it's all about fun, fellowship, getting out here, enjoying these funny little dogs and having a good time," Clarke said.
