Kehillah Hannukah to come to Chesterfield County in late December
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- For 8News’ Spirit of the Season series, we’re highlighting holiday events in the Richmond area. On Friday, Dec. 13, we learned more about a Hannukah celebration in Chesterfield County. Good Morning Richmond Anchors Delaney Hall and Autumn Childress spoke with Rabbi Patrick Beaulier about Kehillah Hannukah, which is coming to the county's Midlothian area later in December. Beaulier founded the Kehillah organization with his wife, explaining that community is at its core. "Instead of building a building that we get people to come to, we built a community," he explained. "We do pop-up events all over Richmond, so we're in Midlothian, Short Pump, we're over in the Church Hill area as well." In addition to events, Beaulier said the organization also does social action work, including supporting folks with mental health and other needs like groceries. Beaulier added that membership isn't required, and its events are free for the public to attend. For the Hannukah event in particular, he said there's a ton of fun to expect. "Hannukah is one of my favorite holidays, and family and kids certainly love it too," he said. "We've got a great location called 'Art Factory.' We're going to have music, games and a free Judaica store." Beaulier added that attendees can expect to enjoy a live menorah lighting, in which attendees can bring their own menorah from home to light it along with the group, or one can be borrowed.
