LIST: Central Virginia schools closed, delayed on Wednesday due to wintry weather
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Several Central Virginia school districts will either be closed or delay their openings on Wednesday due to the lingering effects of recent back-to-back snowstorms.
On Friday, Dec. 5 and Monday, Dec. 8, Virginia saw both its first and second snowfalls of the season. As temperatures are staying rather low, snow and ice still coat many of the state's roadways as of Tuesday, Dec. 9 -- especially secondary and neighborhood streets.
To help ensure the safety of students and staff, the following Central Virginia school districts will open two hours late on Wednesday, Dec. 10:
- Chesterfield County Public Schools
- Building operations supervisors, facilities staff and custodial staff to report at usual time
- Bus drivers to report to their buses on a 1-hour and 15-minute delay
- Colonial Heights Public Schools
- Hanover County Public Schools
- Henrico County Public Schools
- Facilities staff Code 4
- New Kent County Public Schools
- Richmond City Public Schools
- Sussex County Public Schools
The following Central Virginia school districts will be closed on Wednesday:
- Amelia County Public Schools
- Brunswick County Public Schools
- Buckingham County Public Schools
- 12-month employees to report at 10 a.m.
- Cumberland County Public Schools
- Dinwiddie County Public Schools
- Fluvanna County Public Schools
- Goochland County Public Schools
- Lunenburg County Public Schools
- Mecklenburg County Public Schools
- Nottoway County Public Schools
- Petersburg City Public Schools
- Prince Edward County Public Schools
- 12-month employees to report at 10:30 a.m.
- Prince George County Public Schools
- Employees Code 4
