Louisa lifts boil water advisory issued after water main break

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The boil water advisory issued for parts of Louisa County has been lifted as of midday Friday.

On Wednesday, May 14, a boil water advisory was issued for residents served by the county's Water Authority Northeast Creek following a water main break on Jefferson Highway.

The water main break caused a pressure loss in the water distribution system. Out of an abundance of caution, some residents in the area of the break were asked to boil water before using it.

At about noon on Friday, May 16, the county said the boil water advisory has been lifted following two rounds of water testing.

Samples were taken on both Wednesday and Thursday, May 15, to test the water for bacteria like coliform and E. coli. According to the county, all results came back negative -- meaning that the loss of pressure did not introduce such bacteria into the public water system.
