Male pedestrian fighting for life after crash in Hopewell, near Prince George line
HOPEWELL Va. (WRIC) -- A male pedestrian is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car in Hopewell, near the Prince George County line, on Wednesday. Just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, first responders with Prince George County Fire & EMS responded to the 3100 block of Prince George Drive for report of a pedestrian struck. The scene of the crash is actually in Hopewell, just over the county line, but Prince George fire officials told 8News that their first responders provided emergency care on this call. When the county's crew arrived, they found a male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his life-threatening injuries. Drivers should avoid the area as first responders work to clear the scene. As of 9:16 p.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation reported that all lanes surrounding the area of the crash -- both northbound and southbound -- were closed. No additional information is available at this time. 8News has reached out to the Hopewell Police Department, which is leading the police side of this investigation, for further details. This comes less than a day after a head-on collision on the nearby County Drive in Prince George left four people in critical condition. 8News asked how those victims were doing as of Wednesday and fire officials said that all four of them are expected to recover.
