Man dead after early morning house fire in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man is dead after an early morning house fire in Chesterfield County on Sunday. At 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, Chesterfield Fire and EMS crews responded to a call for a fire in the 2900 block of Kingsdale Road. According to officials, the first firefighters that arrived on scene found a house fully engulfed in flames. They were able to mark the fire under control in just over an hour. While searching inside the home, firefighters found a man dead. Chesterfield Fire and EMS said his name is being withheld until the medical examiner can make a positive identification. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Chesterfield Fire Marshal's Office.
