Man found dead in ditch in Prince Edward, sheriff’s office investigating
PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Prince Edward County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was found dead in a ditch Saturday afternoon.
At around 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, the sheriff's office responded to a report of a man lying in a ditch behind a guardrail at Route 460 East near High Rock Road.
The Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad pronounced the man dead at about 4:10 pm. that afternoon, according to a release.
The body is being taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond for identification and to determine the cause and manner of death.
"There is currently no reason to suspect foul play," the sheriff's office said in a release.
Any additional information will be released after the man's next of kin can be notified.
