Through his tenure in entertainment, Lawrence has gained the title as "one of the greatest comics of all time" by fans all over the world. He began his comedy career in New York City at the Improv Comedy Club, which led to his breakthrough role in the Spike Lee film "Do The Right Thing."
In addition, Lawrence is known for his early roles in other films like "House Party" and "Boomerang", which led to him hosting mega-produce Russell Simmons' HBO Series "Def Comedy Jam."
In 1992, he landed his own self-titled television series "Martin," which is still beloved to fans today. According to Altria's press release, the self-titled television series topped rates so much that it raised the FOX network to a top contender against other television networks.
After the finale of "Martin," Lawrence went on to star in films like "Life," "Blue Streak," the "Big Momma's House" franchise and the "Bad Boys" franchise.
“Comedy gives me that instant gratification,” Lawrence says. “Seeing the fans up close and in person, making people laugh, doing what I love most, this is what it’s all about for me. But hey…y’all know what it is!”
