RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company is voluntarily recalling select batches of its Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias due to an allergy alert.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reported that Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company has recalled select batches of its Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias due to undeclared almonds and cashews, which could pose a serious risk to individuals with nut allergies.

According to the FDA, the recall affects 0.6oz and 4oz bags distributed to retail stores in 17 states, including Virginia. No allergic reactions or illnesses have been reported so far.

The 0.6oz bags (UPC 0 72992 05464 4) are marked with lot numbers K5069C1 and K5069C2 and a best-by date of October 2026. The 4oz bags (UPC 0 72992 05556 6) carry lot numbers B4339E1 and B4340E1, with a best-by date of July 2026.

The issue was identified during an internal quality check, which revealed that a third-party manufacturer had processed a batch containing undeclared almonds and cashews.
