Metro Richmond Zoo offers up-close experience with Galapagos giant tortoise
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Have you ever wanted to meet one of the largest species of tortoise in the world? Well, look no further than the new, up-close experience with Metro Richmond Zoo's Galapagos giant tortoise!
Reptile fans can head to the Metro Richmond Zoo, located at 8300 Beaver Bridge Road, to take part in a 30-minute meet-and-greet experience that allows for a more personal and informative visit.
For $50 per person, attendees will be able to:
- Go into the Galapagos tortoise habitat
- Touch their domed shells and take photos
- Enjoy potential feeding opportunities
- Learn about the gentle giants and how they are cared for at the zoo, as well as efforts to protect the endangered species
- Meet the zoo's juvenile Aldabra tortoises (the second-largest tortoise), who share the same habitat
