More Caroline neighborhoods see vehicles broken into, guns stolen

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- More Caroline County neighborhoods have been hit by a wave of vehicle break-ins, according to authorities.

The morning of Monday, Sept. 29, the Caroline County Sheriff's Office announced that it is investigating a string of overnight vehicle break-ins in the Brindlewood subdivision and the Lake Land'Or community. Firearms, money and other valuables were stolen from the involved vehicles.

A week ago, on Monday, Sept. 22, the sheriff's office said it was investigating similar crimes in the Glen Meadows and Campbell's Creek neighborhoods in Ladysmith.

As of the time of reporting, deputies are investigating all of these incidents as potentially related.

Investigators are combing through security footage from several sources, with deputies working to identify any and all suspects involved.

In the meantime, Sheriff C. Scott Moser recommends Caroline residents do the following to reduce their chances of becoming victims of these criminals:

  • Always make sure that your vehicle is locked
  • Do not leave any valuables, including money or firearms, in your vehicle
  • Either remove or hide any items that could catch someone's attention
