9 Henrico nonprofits receive grants for environmental sustainability projects
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Nine Henrico County nonprofits that focus on local environmental sustainability and outdoor education will receive over $30,000 combined in grant funding.
On Monday, April 6, county officials announced the recipients of Henrico's Environmental Action Resource Team (HEART) 2026 Community Impact Grants.
Through the HEART Community Impact Grants program, the county works to fund initiatives like pollinator and community gardens, native plant cultivation and outdoor education.
When the program was first launched in April 2025, awards ranged from $1,000 to $2,400. This year, they range from $1,500 and $5,000 -- an increase made "to support more projects with greater impact," the county said in an April 6 press release.
