‘No evidence’ of active attacker after armed person reported on University of Virginia campus

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) -- Police are on scene at the University of Virginia's (UVA) campus after finding "no evidence" of an active attacker following the report of an armed person Monday afternoon.

The university's Department of Safety and Security posted to X at 3:04 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3 about an active attacker with a gun that had been reported in the area of Shannon Library located at 160 McCormick Road.

Around 10 minutes later, the department said that officers with the UVA Police Department were on scene and continuing to investigate, urging people to "RUN-HIDE-FIGHT."

The latest update was posted at 3:41 p.m., where the department stated that "at this time there is no evidence of an active attacker," although they said people should "continue to RUN-HIDE-FIGHT."
