Noah Thompson to visit Chesterfield County Jail’s HARP program

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The winner of the 20th season of "American Idol" is making his way to the Chesterfield County Jail on Tuesday to sing to inmates and share his story.

Country music singer Noah Thompson, who won "American Idol" two years ago, will visit the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office's Helping Addicts Recover Progressively (HARP) program.

At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, Thompson will share his story and sing several of his songs, including his hit song "One Day Tonight," according to the sheriff's office.

HARP is a voluntary jail-based treatment and recovery program for inmates who have struggled with addiction challenges.

“We are honored to have Noah come visit HARP and share his story, which is one similar to many of those in HARP but also one of resilience and overcoming, which is such a positive message to our participants,” Sheriff Leonard said. “Music is one of the cornerstones to helping overcome trauma which is essential to achieving long-term and life-long recovery.”

The county sheriff's office shares that the visit is part of Mobilize Recovery's mission to bring together advocates, allies and stakeholders in order to find recovery solutions.
