HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A person is fighting for their life after a Friday night multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 295 South in Henrico County.

The crash took place at about 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, on I-295 southbound near New Market Road, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

A spokesperson for Virginia State Police told 8News that this crash involved three vehicles. One person hurt in the crash was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

As of 10:22 p.m., the southbound center and right lanes are closed, per VDOT. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternative routes as first responders work to clear the scene.
