Over 1,000 Central Virginia homes, businesses without power
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Over 1,000 homes and businesses are without power amid an evening of severe weather in Central Virginia.
Scattered severe thunderstorms have caused damage throughout Central Virginia on Friday, June 6 -- particularly in Prince Edward County, according to StormTracker8 chief meteorologist Matt DiNardo.
This includes damage to power lines, resulting in power outages.
As of 11:15 p.m., about 1,115 Dominion Energy customers are without power in Central Virginia, according to the company's outage map. This includes:
- Prince Edward County: 544 homes and businesses
- Orange County: 335 homes and businesses
- Cumberland County: 183 homes and businesses
- Lunenburg County: 53 homes and businesses
At one point Friday night, over 1,700 customers had no power across Albemarle, Brunswick, Lunenburg, Orange and Prince Edward counties, as well as the city of Richmond.
The estimated time of restoration varies depending on the locality, with some set for the early morning hours of Saturday, June 7. Some projects do not have an estimated time of restoration available yet.
