Owner of Hanover children’s party venue charged with alleged rape, sexual assault of child

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The owner of A Party Playhouse, a children's party venue in Hanover County's Mechanicsville area, has been charged after he allegedly sexually assaulted a child in his family who is younger than 13 years old.
Jerald-Dean Edward Miller has been charged with rape, object sexual penetration and sodomy of a child who is under 13 years old after he allegedly raped and sexually assaulted a child in his family in the summer of 2024.
According to court records, the family member who reported the incident was allegedly sexually assaulted by Miller multiple times throughout the summer of 2024.
Miller owns A Party Playhouse in Hanover County. An online listing for the business said it is located at 7478 Lee-Davis Road in the county's Mechanicsville area. The business's status is listed as inactive, according to records from the State Corporation Commission.
He was reportedly arrested on May 12 and taken into custody. The Hanover County Sheriff's Office said he was later released on June 10 on a $50,000 bond.
As part of his bond, Miller cannot leave Virginia and must be monitored by a GPS device. He also cannot have any contact with the plaintiff. Miller waived a trial by jury and is slated for a two-day bench trial for 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 6 and Nov. 7.
The sheriff's office said it cannot share more details about the investigation due to the age of the survivor.
