Person injured after shooting in Richmond’s East End

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A person is injured after they were shot in Richmond's East End early Thursday morning.

At 1:58 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to the 1700 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike for the report of a person shot.

A second call then came in for a person who had walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound, according to police.

Officers then responded to the hospital and learned that the victim was taken there from Mechanicsville Turnpike. Their injuries are non-life-threatening, according to police.
