Petersburg Fire Rescue responds to heavy fire at Best Inn Hotel

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- Petersburg Fire Rescue & Emergency Services responded to a hotel fire in Petersburg on Sunday.
On Sunday, Jan. 11, Petersburg Fire Rescue & Emergency Services shared in a post that units responded to a fire located at the Best Inn Hotel on 555 E. Wythe Street Sunday afternoon.
Once on the scene, firefighters found heavy fire on the right side of the hotel. People were evacuated from the hotel, and the fire was under control in 12 minutes.
Fire crews are still on scene and have advised the public to avoid the area until it is considered safe.
