Petersburg roadway to see closures for over a month
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- A Petersburg roadway will see closures for over a month as crews continue work on a "critical" project designed to improve the city's water system.
The Poor Creek project is an infrastructural project focused on replacing an existing wastewater system in Petersburg. In the summer of 2024, the city was given nearly $1 million to help fund this work.
The next step in this project will begin on Monday, April 21. According to the city, crews will close down part of Old Church Street daily as they replace waterlines in that area.

From April 21 to May 9, Old Church Street between Taylor Street and E. Washington Street will see these closures. Then, from May 12 to May 23, this work will move to Old Church Street between E. Washington Street and E. Wythe Street.
The closure will be lifted during nighttime hours.
"Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time while this critical work is carried out," the city said.
