Petersburg woman, Henrico man both dead after head-on crash in Sussex

SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An 18-year-old Petersburg woman and a 27-year-old Henrico County man are both dead after a mid-August head-on crash in Sussex County.
On Monday, Aug. 25, Virginia State Police identified the second driver who was killed in a deadly two-vehicle crash that took place on Route 460 on Sunday, Aug. 17.
At about 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, state troopers were called to Route 460 for report of a two-vehicle crash.
When they arrived, they found that both involved drivers -- 27-year-old Tayvon Michael Dawson of Henrico County, and 18-year-old Amaiya Andre'A Scott of Petersburg -- had died as a result of the crash.
Additionally, an unidentified passenger of Dawson's was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

State police determined that Scott was moving west on Route 460 in a 2010 Ford Fusion when, "for unknown reasons," she crossed the center line. This caused her to hit Dawson, who was moving east in a 2015 Jeep Patriot, head-on.
The Ford Fusion caught fire upon impact, "significantly burning" Scott.
Dawson was identified by state police on the day the crash occurred. Scott was identified on Monday.
According to state police, neither speed nor alcohol are considered factors in this crash.
