RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- To celebrate Fine Arts Month, Richmond Public Schools (RPS) held a Fine Arts Festival this weekend to celebrate the talent of students across the city.
The festival took place for its eighth year on Saturday, March 8 at Huguenot High School -- located at 7945 Forest Hill Ave. Participants had the opportunity to see hundreds of pieces of artwork featured from students attending all K-12 schools.
Additionally, there were performances and exhibits from the VMFA Art Mobile, All City Elementary Schools' choir, orchestra and marching band, and much more.
8News got the chance to speak with Christie-Jo Adams, coordinator for arts education at RPS, about what an event like this provides for attendants as well as students.
"If you notice, there are no two pieces that are alike," Adams said. "Because our students are given the opportunity to be creative, to exercise their expression and to just be an artist."
