Pipe failure causes emergency road closure in Caroline County

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A drainage pipe failure has shut down a Caroline County roadway.

At about 5:45 p.m. on Monday, March 17, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced the emergency closure of Guinea Station Road near its intersection with Stonewall Jackson Road.

This closure is in response to a drainage pipe failure, the department said.

Drivers are encouraged to use Claiborne Crossing Road, Macedonia Road and Stonewall Jackson Road to get around the closure.

According to VDOT, an emergency repair operation will begin on Tuesday, March 18. The department did not provide an estimated completion date.
