Police pursuit by vehicle turns to quick foot chase after traffic stop in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A suspect is in police custody following a chase by vehicle and then by foot after a traffic stop along Richmond Highway Wednesday morning.

At 5:33 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, officers with the Richmond Police Department attempted to pull over a vehicle along the 3100 block of Richmond Higwhay.

Police said the vehicle did not stop and fled the scene.

The chase by vehicle reportedly ended on the northbound side of Interstate 95, but when the suspect eventually stopped near the exit onto the Downtown Expressway, they reportedly attempted to flee on foot.

Officers reportedly apprehended the suspect quickly, after which they were taken into custody.
