Power grid improvements coming to Prince George’s Disputanta area
PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Improvements are coming to power grid infrastructure in Prince George County’s Disputanta area.
On Wednesday, July 23, the county announced that Dominion Energy is modernizing its Disputanta Substation. Aging equipment will be replaced and new technology will be deployed.
As a part of this process, Dominion Energy will expand the substation. Its change in size is illustrated on the map below. All of the land intended to be used is already owned by Dominion Energy, per the county.

If you own land within 1,000 feet of the substation, you will reportedly be sent further project information by Dominion Energy via mail.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026. It is expected to be completed the end of the year. These dates are subject to change.
Dominion Energy said this project is not expected to impact electrical service.
These improvements aim to “improve grid operations and [help] better integrate renewable energy resources,” per the county.
