Powhatan County shares list full of fun fall activities to do with pets

POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Monday, Sept. 22 marks the first day of fall, and as many may light a candle and decorate for the new season, Powhatan County has some fun fall activities you can do with your furry friend.

Down below are some paw-some ideas that Powhatan Animal Control has provided:

  • Leaf pile play: You and your furry friend can rake up a big pile of leaves and let pet jump in as long as its free of sticks or hazards.
  • Scenic hikes: Cooler temperatures can make fall perfect for exploring trails, but make sure to always keep your pet leashed and bring water.
  • Pumpkin fun: Pumpkins are safe for dogs in moderation so you can try making a healthy pumpkin treat or let them sniff around at a pumpkin patch.
  • Fall photoshoot: Capture golden, red and orange leaves along with your pets smile for some seasonal memories.
  • Cozy nights: Take some time to snuggle up with your pet and enjoy a movie night after a fun day outside.

Powhatan Animal Control wants to remind pet owners to watch out for hazards like mushrooms, moldy leaves and Halloween candy.
