Protestors demonstrate at Chesterfield County Courthouse after ICE detains 14 people
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Protestors peacefully demonstrated at the Chesterfield County Courthouse Wednesday morning after 14 people were detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents over three days.
At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, protestors against immigration enforcement held a peaceful demonstration outside the Chesterfield County Courthouse.
Demonstrators held handmade signs that said, "ICE MELTS WITH RESISTANCE," "IMMIGRANTS HAVE MADE OUR NATION GREAT," and "ICE OUT," among others.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Karl Leonard said the groups at the courthouse were "small in size and peaceful."

Chesterfield County Branch NAACP President Nicole Martin attended the protest.
The Chesterfield County Branch NAACP released a statement on social media on Tuesday, June 23, condemning the detainments and calling them a "direct attack on the integrity of our judicial system," and an "egregious violation of civil rights."
The protests came after Leonard confirmed that a total of 14 people were taken into custody by ICE agents while appearing at the courthouse for charges they are facing.
