Residents of Richmond’s Creighton Court neighborhood were without full hot water service after redevelopment issues

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Residents of 83 units within Richmond's Creighton Court neighborhood were without full hot water service for a period due to issues during redevelopment, according to the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA).

First reported by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, issues during the redevelopment of Richmond's Creighton Court neighborhood led to residents of all 83 occupied units losing full hot water service for a period of time, according to a spokesperson for RRHA.

RRHA said each of those households experienced "some level of impact" after a heating coil and several pipes failed that serve hot water to the area.

The spokesperson said residents were not entirely without hot water service, but water temperature did fall below the "optimal hot water standard" of 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

While full hot water service was not available, RRHA said water temperatures ranged between around 98 and 110 degrees Fahrenheit, which would have felt lukewarm.

The spokesperson said repairs were completed on Wednesday, Feb. 18, and full hot water service was restored to all occupied units.

RRHA added that its maintenance staff will continue to monitor the system to ensure full hot water service continues.

8News asked RRHA when the hot water service issues began. This article will be updated when new information becomes available.
