Richmond Habitat for Humanity to build playhouses for local children to explore
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity will bring together several sponsors over the weekend to build playhouses for local children to have spaces to call their own. Richmond Habitat for Humanity's Project Playhouse will bring together sponsors to build playhouses for local children from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 and Sunday, Nov. 10 in the parking lot of Stone Brewing, located at 4300 Williamsburg Ave. According to the organization, Project Playhouse helps provide children with a safe space to play, dream and explore in their own playhouse. The event will bring together seven sponsor teams who will each build and decorate a themed playhouse based on the interests of their assigned child or children nominated through the program. "Our playhouse will be going to the daughter and son of a Habitat homeowner and it has been fun to think creatively about how to design a playhouse that combines their unique preferences - superheroes and unicorns," said Eileen Jackson, Project Playhouse participant and Habitat Board Vice Chair. According to the organization, Richmond Habitat for Humanity will provide all of the building materials and tools to each group with playhouse sponsorships to cover the cost.
