Richmond man found shot dead after crashing into tree, structure

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A Richmond man was found shot dead after he'd crashed into a tree and a structure early Wednesday morning.

At about 1:38 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 2300 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for report of a single-vehicle crash.

When they arrived, they found 45-year-old Antonio Nixon of Richmond inside his vehicle, which had left the roadway near West Graham Road and hit a tree as well as a structure.

Nixon, who was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash, died at the scene. Investigators later determined that he had been shot and a bullet hole was found in the vehicle.

No further details are available as of the time of reporting. Police continue to investigate this homicide.
