RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- On Tuesday, June 2, 42-year-old Hassan Julian Roberts was sentenced to over three years in prison for possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

According to a press release and court documents, in November 2020, FBI agents received information from the KIK messenger app about username "Boredani" sharing videos which were believed to be CSAM.

On Dec. 8 of 2021, agents searched Roberts residents and seized several electronic devices and an external hard drive belonging to Roberts. A forensic examination of the hard drive then revealed that it contained over 100 CSAM files--one of which depicting a prepubescents minor engaged in various sexual acts.

This case was brought as part part of a nationwide initiative "Project Safe Childhoods" which launched in May of 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing numbers of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
