Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity set to dedicate 397th house this Friday
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity (RMHH) is set to dedicate its 397th home this Friday June 13, in honor of resident Rose Thornhill.
Thornhill raised her two children as a single mother while both pursued their college educations. Thornhill also dedicated more than half her income towards her rent.
According to RMHH, Thornhill applied through their program and was later accepted. Since then she has completed 10 financial and homeownership education classes as well as several budget session. In addition Thornhill has completed over 350 volunteer hours and has been there for every phase of building for her new home.
“I’ll be able to comfortably afford my mortgage payments and still have enough funds left over for clothing, transportation, and other essentials,” Thornhill said. “Habitat can bring me some security and peace of mind during my golden years.”
Thornhill plans to dedicate more than 120 hours to a future homeowner with disabilities.
RMHH invites locals to join them in this celebration at 3307 Main St. from 10 to 11 a.m. The dedication will also feature refreshments and an appearance by Senator Kaine.
