Richmond streetlight outage caused by Dominion Energy system failure
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond announced that a power substation issue caused a streetlight outage and that restoration is currently underway.
According to the Department of Public Works, a Dominion Energy system failure produced an issue in one of the city's power substations last night.
The city said that the failure manufactured an interruption in the streetlighting system, which resulted in an outage. The streetlight outage expanded to the following areas:
- North at Laburnum Avenue, North Avenue and East Ladies Mile Road
- South on Valley Road and I-64
- East on the Henrico County and Richmond city line
- West to Chamberlayne Avenue, Brooklyn Park Avenue, West Norwood Avenue and Richmond-Henrico Turnpike
DPW expressed that the team is actively working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. There is not an estimated restoration time at this moment, but updates will be posted on the city's website.
