Richmond Symphony to host ‘Celebration of Black Music in Film’

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Symphony will host "Celebration of Black Music in Film" at the Carpenter Theatre in January. The event will be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Carpenter Theatre in the Dominion Energy Center, located at 600 East Grace Street Suite 400 in Richmond. Doors will open for the event at 6:30 p.m. Attendees can expect to listen to Luther Vandross' work from "The Wiz," music from Isaac Hayes' "Shaft," as well as soundscapes from "Get Out," "Dream Girls" and more. The event will feature Richmond jazz band Butcher Brown as guest artist, and Richmond Symphony's guest conductor will be Naima Burrs.
