Road closures coming to Hanover for annual Ashland Railroad Run
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Several Hanover County roadways will see closures on Saturday as running enthusiasts lace up to take part in a beloved Ashland tradition.
From 7 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, runners will fill Ashland's streets for the annual Ashland Railroad Run.
The course includes South Center Street on the west side of the railroad tracks. It stretches as far west as South James Street and the Lankford's Crossing subdivision and goes as far south as Gwathmey Church Road.
To ensure runners' safety, the Ashland Police Department will temporarily close roads along the course. This includes southbound South Center Street between Myrtle Street and Ashcake Road, which will be closed for the duration of the run.

Ashcake Road at South Center Street in the area of the railroad crossing will close intermittently during the run.
Drivers should expect delays Saturday morning throughout the Ashland Historic District, as well as in all of the following areas:
- Center Street, between Gwathmey Church Road, Ashcake Road and Myrtle Street
- Duncan Street
- Hanover Avenue
- The Lankford's Crossing subdivision
"These delays will be temporary," police said. "Ashland police officers, Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies and volunteers will be posted throughout the course to assist motorists transiting the course. If you do find yourself stopped in traffic, the wait should be minimal. We thank you for your patience and cooperation in advance."
