RVA Walk to End Alzheimer’s ranks 14 in the US, raised $952K
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond's Walk to End Alzheimer's was recently ranked 14 in terms of the top walks throughout the United States, with the event itself raising just under $952,000.
According to a release from the Alzheimer's Association, this ranking is out of the top 30 walks that took place across the country in 2024, and comes after over 2,750 people from the Richmond area walked in the event on Nov. 9, 2024.
8News partnered with the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Richmond Chapter for the walk, and raised close to $952,000 that will go towards funding for Alzheimer's care, support and research programs.
"The Alzheimer's Association Greater Richmond Chapter sincerely thanks the many dedicated walk participants, volunteers and sponsors who made the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer's a tremendous success," said Lissa Greenlee, the chapter's Executive Director. "To be recognized as one of the top 30 walks in the country is an extraordinary accomplishment and testament to the passion, dedication and commitment of all who made it possible. I am inspired by the collective effort and excited for the future achievements that lie ahead."

Over 370,000 people participated in 600 walks throughout the U.S. in 2024, according to the association, and over $101 million was raised. It is believed that the walks ranked in the top 30 put forth $29 million towards the total amount raised.
