Second person arrested in South Hill operation that seized over 6 pounds of marijuana, firearms, cash
MECKLENBURG COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The South Hill Police Department have made a second arrest following a multi-agency operation that uncovered more than six pounds of marijuana, a firearm and over $2,000 in cash.
At about 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, officers with the South Hill Police Department, along with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Derrick Leon House Jr. in the 600 block of Lombardy St.
According to the South Hill Police Department, House was wanted by authorities on multiple charges, including possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while subject to a protective order, reckless handling of a firearm and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
During a search of a home, police found over six pounds of marijuana and over $2,000, police said.
House was also wanted by Dinwiddie County for robbery and by the city of Colonial Heights for robbery using force. Police said he was taken into custody without incident.
On Tuesday, April 7, police announced that 24-year-old Elijah Nyhiem Seward, of South Hill has been charged and arrested for possession with intent to sell, give or distribute marijuana in connection with this operation.
Seward was taken into custody in connection with evidence obtained during the April 1 operation.
"This charge is directly related to the previously reported seizure of a significant quantity of marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia, a firearm, ammunition, and U.S. currency," police said.
Officials said additional charges may be forthcoming and asked anyone with information to contact the South Hill Police Department.
