SetBreak Brewing Co. brings classic beers to Richmond’s Scott’s Addition
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A new brewery is coming to Richmond's Scott's Addition neighborhood during Black Heath Meadery's Festival of Wood & Fire in mid-January, offering classic beers.
According to a Jan. 5 release, SetBreak Brewing Co., a Richmond-based brewery operating out of Black Heath Meadery, is inspired by the moment it’s named after -- the set break, the pause between musical sets when people reconnect, refresh, and recharge.
Black Heath Meadery said Set Brewing Co. will make its "debut performance" on Saturday, Jan. 17, during the Festival of Wood & Fire, which runs from 1 to 9 p.m. at the meadery's Scott's Addition taproom.
“SetBreak is about creating beers that feel familiar but still exciting,” said Bill Cavender, owner and Chief Mead Officer of Black Heath Meadery. “Rob and I have spent years sharing drinks and music together, and this project brings those experiences into the brewhouse. It’s a natural extension of what we love - great beverages, great people, and moments worth slowing down for.”
SetBreak is the latest project from Bill Cavender of Black Heath Meadery and Rob Quicke, former brewer at Anytime Beer Company, Ardent Craft Ales and Hardywood Park Craft Brewery, after being friends and industry colleagues for more than a decade.
The two are collaborating to bring a classic, thoughtfully made beer to Richmond, per a release.
The free festival, which is open to the public, will offer an early look at SetBreak Brewing Co., with a full brewery rollout planned for February. Additional beer releases, expanded offerings and more details will be announced in the coming weeks.
Officials said the festival is designed for both longtime fans of barrel-aged beverages and curious newcomers.
“This festival is about slowing down and appreciating the process,” Cavender said. “From the barrels we age our beverages in, to the care and craft behind the wood-fired foods, this festival celebrates the hands-on processes that shape flavor and bring people together.”
