Shots fired at Virginia State University Monday night
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Shots were fired near a residence hall at Virginia State University (VSU) Monday night. According to the university, shots were fired in the parking lot of Moore Hall around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14. The university's campus was on lockdown until police determined there was no further threat around 8:30 p.m. According to VSU, campus police and Chesterfield Police are still investigating the incident. It’s unclear what led to the shooting. No victim or suspect has been reported, but we do know shell casings were found in the involved parking lot. VSU has had three shootings in the past year. The most recent was back in August and left four people injured during the school’s freshman ‘Welcome Week.’ As police continue to investigate, they ask anyone with information to contact VSU Police.
