Speed cameras active near Chesterfield County schools during summer session

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Drivers are being reminded to watch their speed as automated speed enforcement cameras will be active around several Chesterfield schools during summer school sessions. 

The initiative is part of an effort to protect students and staff during the summer term, which runs from Monday through Thursday, June 23 to July 17, 2025.

Speed cameras will be operational during specific time windows each day at the following schools:

  • Beulah Elementary School: 7 to 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon
  • Cosby High School: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
  • Ecoff Elementary School: 7 to 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon
  • Moseley Elementary School: 7 to 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon
  • Reams Road Elementary School: 7 to 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon
  • Swift Creek Elementary School: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

The cameras will only operate when school zone lights are flashing, signaling active enforcement periods. According to county officials, any driver caught going 10 mph or more over the posted school zone speed limit will receive a citation by mail.
