Spotsylvania man accused of shooting, dumping puppies in Orange

ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Spotsylvania County man is facing ten animal cruelty charges after authorities say he shot and dumped puppies in Orange County on multiple occasions.

Orange County Animal Control has been investigating incidents where puppies were shot and dumped, according to a May 12 Facebook post from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Court documents list the related offense dates as April 15, 2024 and Dec. 3, 2023.

As a result of said investigation, authorities arrested 38-year-old Martin Raul Guerrero Diaz of Spotsylvania County. He was charged with nine counts of cruelty to animals and one count of torturing or maiming a dog, causing death.

He will appear in Orange County General District Court at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 20.
