SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- More than a year after she murdered her three roommates, a Spotsylvania County woman was sentenced to over 100 years in prison.

On Friday, June 20, Alyssa Venable, of Spotsylvania, was sentenced to 99 years in prison for the June 2024 murders of her three roommates: 77-year-old Robert John McGuire, 60-year-old Gregory Scott Powell and 65-year-old Carol Anne Reese.

She was also given a combined total of 14 years in prison for various related firearms offenses, as well as assault and battery, according to online court records.

Deputies with the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in the 10500 block of White Street Court at about 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 for a welfare check.

A manhunt began for Venable soon after, as she was quickly identified as a suspect.

Two days later, on Thursday, June 6, 2024, Venable was taken into custody in Steuben County, New York, after local state troopers tried to perform a traffic stop on a car that looked like hers. Venable refused to stop, beginning a pursuit that reached 100 mph, per authorities.

The police chase ended in a crash after tire deflation devices were deployed.

Venable pleaded guilty to her roommates' murders on Feb. 24.
