Still no answers 2 years after 10-year-old boy shot, killed in his Petersburg bedroom
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- It's been more than two years since 10-year-old K'von Morgan of Petersburg was shot and killed in his bedroom, and police are still searching for answers.
On Wednesday, July 23, the Petersburg Bureau of Police posted on Facebook about the ongoing investigation into Morgan's death.
Just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, officers were called to the Pecan Acres Apartment Complex in the 200 block of Juniper Road for report of a shooting.
Morgan was sitting in his bedroom watching movies with a friend when he was hit by several bullets through his window. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Investigators previously stated that no evidence suggests Morgan was the intended target.

“He was telling me, ‘I’m ready for the summer -- I’ma stay up all night and play Fortnite,'” said one of Morgan's teachers, Ashley Pettis, in a previous interview with 8News. “He was ready to go to fifth grade and just -- everything we were planning for next year.”
