StormTracker8: Quiet finish to the work week, rainy Sunday ahead

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – We are in for a quiet and cool finish to the work week, before changes this weekend. Details below.

Today’s forecast calls for another cool day, under sunny skies and highs in the middle 40s to the upper 40s.

Tonight’s forecast calls for clear skies overnight and cold temperatures, getting down into the middle 20s to the upper 20s.

Saturday is Valentine’s Day and it will be a lovely day to take your Valentine outdoors, with temperatures approaching 60 degrees, under mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday will be a rainy day all around, as our next weather system will be sliding over us bringing light to moderate rainfall all day, from the morning through the evening hours. We could be looking at a half inch to 2 inches of rainfall, especially in Southern Virginia. Northern Virginia may see a brief Wintry Mix during the day on Sunday but impacts and accumulations are expected to be minimal if any. Highs on Sunday will be cool, in the middle 40s.

We could see a lingering shower or two heading into Sunday night into Monday morning next week.

Monday is President’s Day, and we will see mostly cloudy skies and highs 50 to 55 degrees.

Tuesday through Friday of next work week, all call for mild temperatures, with 60s in the afternoons and 40s in the overnights and partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies each of these days.
