StormTracker8: Watching for Potential Light Snow on Sunday

Richmond, Va. (WRIC) -- We are watching for the potential of light snow on our Sunday.

Our Friday is starting off cold in the 20s and some teens on this Friday morning, under clear skies, bundle up as you head off to work and to school.

Friday will finish off cool this afternoon, under partly sunny skies and highs 40 to 45 degrees.

Saturday will be a seasonable day under mostly cloudy skies and seasonable temperatures, around 50 degrees, with morning showers possible as a weak weather system will be passing through the state.

Sunday we are watching for the potential of light snow from approximately 7:00 a.m. until around 4:00 p.m. as a new weather system will be developing over the weekend, and heading in our direction. The latest trends in the models have this being a weaker overall system versus recent days, which means lower snowfall totals overall across Central Virginia. As of the latest on this Friday morning, the general thinking is a widespread dusting to 2 inches of light snowfall possible on our Sunday. This is still subject to change between now and Sunday, so stay tuned both on air and online for the latest information.

Monday is the Martin Luther King Jr Holiday and it will be a cool day under mostly sunny skies and highs 40 to 45 degrees.

Tuesday of next week will be very chilly, under mostly sunny skies and highs only rising to 30 to 35 degrees.

Finally, next Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, are all calling for partly sunny skies and cool temperatures, with the possibility for some isolated showers next Thursday.
