Support Petersburg Area Art League at benefit concert featuring Plunky & Oneness

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from two special guests on Wednesday to talk about an upcoming benefit concert, featuring Plunky & Oneness, taking place at the Petersburg Area Art League (PAAL) next week.
8News anchors Autumn Childress and Delaney Hall were joined by Cyndi Koe, president of PAAL, and J. Plunky Branch to discuss what this event means for the gallery and the community.
"It's important because all the programs and the classes that we provide [are] all for the community, and bringing Plunky is like -- it's going to be an amazing event," Koe said. "And more people will come to Petersburg, and they'll know more about the art gallery."
Every second Friday, PAAL hosts a reception to showcase new exhibits while also offering summer art camps, classes for people of all ages and live music in the art park, Koe described.
This benefit concert in particular will take place on Friday, Sept. 12, starting at 7 p.m.
Plunky also spoke about what this concert means to him and his fellow musicians, as well as the crowd he hopes to bring.
"It's also a special concert because we're reaching out to the rest of Central Virginia," Plunky said. "Plunky & Oneness plays in Richmond all the time, and we don't get to Petersburg quite so often, so it's a special concert as we outreach to our sister city."
The proceeds from the concert will support other concerts, exhibitions and arts education at the gallery as a whole.
Plunky & Oneness will also be playing music from their latest album, "Made Through Ritual."
