Teenager dead after police say he accidentally shot himself in Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A teenage boy is dead after police say he accidentally shot himself in Henrico County on Monday.

Just before 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 23, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to a home in the 6400 block of Grey Rock Lane for report of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found a teenager inside the home with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

"Detectives within the Criminal Investigations Section continue to investigate the circumstances of what happened, but the preliminary investigation indicates this was an accidental self-inflicted shooting," police said.

8News asked if any charges had been filed against a parent or guardian in connection with this incident.

"Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of what happened," a police spokesperson said in response. "There are currently no charges."
