Three arrested, charged after undercover meth investigation in Caroline and Essex counties

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Three people were arrested and charged after an undercover investigation by the Caroline County Sheriff's Office into the alleged distribution of methamphetamine in the county and elsewhere.

According to a social media post shared on Saturday, March 14, by the Caroline County Sheriff's Office, officials previously received information that methamphetamine (crystal meth) was being sold from a home in the Cedon area of Caroline County, and began an investigation.

Over the subsequent month, officials held an undercover investigation that included several undercover purchases of crystal meth from the home.

Following the investigation, 42-year-old Erika Elizabeth Salyers, of Essex County, and 43-year-old Bradley Wayne Meadows, of Spotsylvania County, were charged with distributing meth.

On March 10, personnel from the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Special Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) and narcotics investigators searched the home in Cedon.

During the search, investigators found 40-year-old Pamela Marie Loving, of the Woodford area, in the home. Loving was reportedly already wanted on outstanding warrants for probation violations from Spotsylvania and Stafford counties.

Officials said Loving was then taken to the Pamunkey Regional Jail, where she was held without bond.

Investigators then traveled to the Dunnsville area of Essex County to search Salyer's home with the assistance of Essex County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators.

While searching Salyer's home, investigators and deputies reportedly found and arrested Bradley Meadows, who was also found to be in possession of suspected meth, however, officials could not initially find Salyers.

Believing Salyers was in the home, investigators reportedly began an extensive search and eventually found Salyers hiding inside an air conditioning vent. Salyers was then taken into custody without incident.

According to officials, during further search of the home, investigators found and seized suspected meth, digital scales with suspected meth residues and packaging materials consistent with narcotics distribution.

As a result of the investigation, Meadows was charged with possession of meth and distribution of meth. Officials said Salyers was charged with her third or subsequent offense of distribution of meth, and possession of meth.

Salyers was also found to be wanted and was served with outstanding Probation Violation warrants from Stafford County and Richmond County, according to the sheriff's office.

Meadows and Salyers were both taken to the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center, where officials said they were being held without bond.

Following the investigation and charges, Caroline County Sheriff Scott Moser shared the following statement:

Methamphetamine continues to be one of the most dangerous drugs affecting our communities. It destroys lives, tears apart families, and often leads to additional crimes. The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to aggressively investigating those who choose to distribute these dangerous substances in our county. I am proud of the work of our Narcotics Unit and thankful for the cooperation of our regional law enforcement partners who helped bring this investigation to a successful conclusion.
