Two injured soldiers identified in military Humvee crash in Dinwiddie County

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va, (WRIC) -- Two soldiers have been identified after a military Humvee ran off the roadway on Saturday June 7, in Dinwiddie County leaving both with life-threatening injuries.

Driver and 24 year-old Emmanuel Andre Roberts, of Woodbridge and front-seat passenger, 27 year-old Robert Moran, of Staunton, have been identified as the two soldiers sustaining serious injuries in the June 7 crash.

According to Virginia State Police (VSP), a Humvee that was part of a military convoy, carrying soldiers from the National Guard Unit, was traveling west on the 3000 block of Cox Road and Route 460 when it ran off the roadway and overturned.

The vehicle was towing a single-axle trailer when it began to lose control due to issues with the trailer, according to VSP. When Roberts tried to regain control the vehicle it then ran off the right side of the road overcorrecting and overturning several times.

The convoy was transporting two Virginia National Guard members assigned to the Warrenton-based Delta Company, 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment.

The soldiers were en route to Fort Barefoot, VA for three weeks as part of their annual training when the crash occurred.

According to VSP, both Roberts and Moran were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.

Moran was flown to VCU Medical Center via Med Flight and Roberts was driven to VCU Medical center--both are suffering from serious life-threatening injuries.
